We need photos to remind us these days existed.
WHY DOCUMENT THESE DAYS?
Because time flies...
Before you know it your kids will be grown. They will spend weekends with friends and grab breakfast on their way out the door. Someday they will not fit on your lap and their problems will not fade away when the time-out has ended. You will want to remember the moments when they were little. The moments they reached for your hand, cried for your hugs, and whispered secrets into your ear. The big moments will always be documented. Birthdays, first days of school, and Christmas mornings will forever be captured with cameras and cell phones. But the small things will slip by us. We need photos to remind us these days existed.
Because life is messy...
And that's OK! Every day life is not ironed dresses and color coordinated shirts. Every day is not "picture day". It is not perfect, or clean, or without massive meltdown at bedtime. But life does not have to be perfect to be beautiful. We should not hide away our baskets of dirty laundry and half-painted bathrooms. These are the things that make a house a home. There is beauty is this mess and it should be celebrated.
Because everyone should be in the frame...
Wouldn't it be nice if you were all in the frame? It's hard to put down our cell phones for fear of missing moments. And then we scroll through 500 photos and realize that WE (the glue that holds this beautiful madness together) are missing from every single one. You deserve beautiful photos of your children AND you.

what to expect
Location... Centrally located near Peoria, Illinois.
A lot of families opt for an in home session because this is where your family is most comfortable. If you want the Saturday morning breakfast captured, I’ll see you in your pajamas. Or maybe the bedtime routine of bath and stories is your favorite. You know your family best, you tell me what actives would mean the most. I have plenty of local spots picked out if a walk in the sunflower field, or skipping rocks on the water is what you’re after.
I hope these photos remind you of what it felt like to live in these moments.
To look or not to look…
The only direction I will give to you is to ignore my existence completely (but please laugh at my terrible jokes). I think you will be surprised that after only a few minutes you won’t even notice the sound of the shutter. My goal is to capture you and your family as you are, big belly laughs and all. I hope these photos remind you of what it felt like to live in this moment.
Does this mean you won't get a few of everyone looking at the camera? Of course not. We will always have time to snuggle up on laps and in arms to get a few group shots if you’d like. But I promise you they won’t be the one’s that you love the most.
Getting in the frame...
I get it. It’s not like you don’t want to be in the photos, but really- you don’t. After all, this is about the kids growing up… right?
Wrong. This is about your family growing up. This is about who your family is in this moment. It’s about having something to remind you of the way they reached for your fingers. Or the way they had to climb onto the couch. All these itty bitty slices of your life that so quickly change and evolve. This is about showing you the moments you couldn’t even see, because you were in the muck of it. This is about being able to look back and remember how it all felt.

The idea of “family photos” may be stress inducing, but this will not be that kind of experience. I am here to make sure that you not only treasure these photos, but that you cherish this experience as well.
